From the Mind of Brie

A look into my life, my thoughts and beliefs, and anything else that comes up. You will be able to follow along the path leading into my future -- whatever that might be...

O.K. So.... I lied. I have to mention one last thing. My mind has been working on an overload when it comes to poetry and lyric writing lately. Creativity seems to be nipping at my toes and often times, I cannot wait to return to my tiny studio apartment, pull out my journal, and jot down my song ideas, or random theories and observations on just about anything and everything.

Most of my songs are still in the form of lyrics and have not yet been musically composed. However, whenever I do write lyrics, I ALWAYS have some type of tune idea in my mind -- never fails. Sometimes these melodic sounds are too loud to ignore and I will notate them, and other times, I ignore the quieter musical sounds that flow through my mind as I write. I read a lot of my work to my mom, and she asked me how I attempted to write songs. I think that the best way to describe my aim at songwriting is that all of my lyrics come in the form of some type of rhythmic pattern. Off of these beats come words of description and story. When I hear music in general, I often envision colors, shapes, patterns and scenes in my mind without even trying. Some songs have a beautifully deep blue hue to them, while others are oranges and yellows and golds. Life has seemed to inspire me to write more lately. And I love it -- it puts poetry and art into every single step I take.
