Excerpts from a recent journal entry of mine:
Acceptance -- it's the one thing that bridges the past and future so that they are peaceful neighbors...
I have finally come to a point where my bridge of acceptance is strong enough for me to cross into my future. I turn my head to reflect and look back at my past, then turn forward once more, and take my first strides into what is the rest of my life...
Painful experiences may seem insurmountable in the darkest of our days, but we can only emerge from that darkness with a greater understanding of what the word "strength" means to us...
This is the true face of renewal. This is the complete meaning of a new beginning. Look forward into the beauty of the unknown. The bridge of acceptance has served its purpose and you are free to run wild among the souls of your future. Welcome to your new world. Welcome to the other side. The light at the end of the tunnel that had seemed so far is now behind you, and the chains are undone.

hope your future rewards you with all that you are working towards!
Your past can't be that sucky. Look for things and people who made it enjoyable and take them to your "new begining".
I guess you'd have to know a lot more about what I've experienced to really say that. I understand what you're saying - and I will take the tough lessons that I've learned and I will try to have better people in my life. If you knew more about my situation, I know that you would absolutely encourage me to leave A LOT behind. It is the only option at this point. When you've been betrayed over and over by the same people, you have to realize where to draw the line. When it happens over and over like this, it becomes a form of abuse.
I'm just a random reader and I don't know you but I know there is at least one person in the world that would do anything to make you feel great all the time. Hang out with those people in your life
Thank you... I'll look for that person...
After having stumbled upon this site (cary's links, to be precise), I remembered a time tested advice:
A healthy mistrust of human beings is essential to a well-lived adult.
Best of luck becoming a well-lived adult.
